Do it, to it!

Reaching Goalsà  Accountability. Action. Repetition. Consistency. SUPPORT.

These  5 words will help get you to your goals. Period. End of discussion. My mom used to say that when she was having “discussions” with my brothers and I when we were younger haha it felt appropriate =)

Although this applies to almost everything in life, I have found it very relevant in the Crossfit World. I think that there are skills I would take for granite and then not practice them or work on them consistently and when I’d go back to them I’d be like “wait what happened, I can’t do them anymore” Well Laura, you haven’t done it in 3 months-what did you really expect?

This has happened to me primarily with double unders and muscle ups. One day I have them, the next not so much! Today, thanks to my wonderful friends Melinda and Mike Nett and my fantastic Coach/Friend/Roommate Cara Sabin, I got a BAR MUSCLE UP!

These have been on my “accomplish asap list” for a little while now and then after them being thrown into the Games I knew I needed to get them fast. Here’s the thing, I got 2 of them today-does that mean I can just stop doing them and then whenever I want hop up and bust one out? Probably not (unless you are naturally a super start most people don’t work like that) So telling all you this is one way to keep me accountable, I promise myself and you, that at least 3-4 times a week I will spend 5-10 minutes doing bar muscle ups.

I get athletes all the time that say, “Coach, I really want to get double unders. How do I get better at them?” I usually reply with, “When is the last time you worked on them or how many times a week do you practice” they usually just look at me with the look of, “dang, you’re right…not enough!” The same goes for me and everyone else out there. Set your mind to something and get after it! Take 5-10 minutes of your day, that is like nothing! And practice whatever it is you want to accomplish.  Tell someone else your goal, ask them to check back in with you in a few weeks and see where you’re  at. Do it, to it!
