*If Your Dreams Don’t Scare You, They’re Not Big Enough*

“I want to be a firefighter when I grow up!” “I want to own my own coffee shop!” “I want to be a professional soccer player” “I want to go to the moon!” “I want to be a ballerina!” All said by your 5 year old self.  When is the last time you sat down and truly thought about where you want to be in 10 years and what you want to be doing and who you want to be doing it with?

I had a wonderful opportunity this morning to sit down with some amazing instructors in the Southport community and amazing people from lululemon and do exactly that. Think about where I want to be in 10 years, who is surrounding me, what state or even country I’m living in, what I’m doing? It is such an eye opening, inspiring and scary situation to put myself in.  I’m sure we all still make those comments like I stated above and have some idea of what we want to do with our lives, but take a second to think about nothing but that! Dig deep and imagine your perfect world.

“You are never too old to set a new goal or dream a new dream” C.S. Lewis

I feel as if I am in a spot in my life where I have a lot of the things I have always wanted.  I feel completely blessed and proud to be where I am at.  With that being said, this morning it was nice to sit down and think beyond that. Think about how I can expand on the wonderful life I have now and make it better. I obviously am not “too old” (although I do have a birthday in 3 weeks!!) but I also take that as never settling or never being too set in your life but always have other things you are aspiring to do or go. Dreams can change too! When I was little I wanted to be a professional soccer player “even if it’s in the MLS with the boys” I’d say. Then you get to a time when you realize a new dream, maybe building off of the old…professional Crossfitter maybe?? =)

Dream big, imagine there are no restrictions.  Whenever I think about my dreams or goals I always seem to limit myself by saying, I’ll never time for that or I’ll never have the money to do that.  So take those obstacles out of the way and think about what would truly make you happy. It’s fun to imagine what your life could be like without those limitations.  The hard part comes in making those dreams come true.  I have this new found vision of where I want to be in 10 years, but how do I get there? I say, one step at a time, but the first part of it is dreaming-if you don’t dream and set goals/aspirations how will you ever get to where you want to be?

Here is a little glimpse of what (I can’t give it all away) I vision in my future =)

I can help you with the camera one! 🙂 I agree with this. I like to make pyramids for my goals, with the top being the ultimate goal, and small steps up the pyramid to outline what I need to do to get there. Then I hang them on my desk so I can see them.
