Life is About Choices, How Are You Choosing to Live Today?

28 Sep

Every morning we wake up with a choice.  What are we going to do today? How are we going to be great? How are we going to make a difference, maybe change someone’s life? What are we going to put our body through; whether it is the food we put in it or the activity we decide to perform.  Who are the people we will surround ourselves with? How are we going to deal with difficult situations or decisions that come up during your day? It’s all up to us. We have the greatest choice of all, how we want to live our lives every single day.

I loved this quote, maybe because I love using !!!! =)

Those of you that know me well know that I am pretty bubbly and full of life.  I enjoy smiling every chance I get, being goofy, staying positive, dancing ever moment I can (and not always well, but I’m having fun so that is all that matters right??) seizing the day and loving life.  Now with that being said, I have my off days too.  Or really, off moments-I try not to make a day out of it.  Example, this morning I woke up feeling pretty good but the moment I started moving around at the box I instantly knew, “this is not going to be a good workout”. Not only was I little mentally out of it, but my shoulders felt super tight, my hips were tight, my knees were sore-you know every excuse in the book.  I pulled through and got my workout done. It wasn’t great, but I did it.  I was upset, bummed, frustrated, annoyed…I hate having bad days.  But you know what? We all have them! As much as they suck, they are probably moments when our body is trying to tell us something and they can only make us better.  I opted to keep going, push through.  I’m also choosing to not let that ruin my day. I wanted to have a pity party and pout about it, but that is not going to do anyone any good.  It’s over, it happened, it sucked, and I’m moving on! I had a nice cup of coffee with a friend, and later, I have some great athletes to coach, a little boxing session and a yummy dinner at DMK with some amazing people-I do live the life.

This idea of choosing is interesting because sometimes you feel like things just fall into your life, because they were meant to.  I do believe in, “everything happens for a reason”, but as I continue to grow up (haha I love how I say that and I’m only 25, 26 in two and a half weeks! Woohoo! I love birthdays!) I’ve also realized that even though opportunities and people will come into our lives, possibly without our control, it is ultimately how we choose to respond that determines our futures.  We don’t always have the power to regulate the obstacles and adventures life throws at us, but we can determine the path they form-our journey.

I know I’ve talked a lot about the wonderful people in my life, but here I go again.  I think who you choose to surround yourself with is so important to how enjoyable and abundant your journey through life will be.  I know we don’t choose our family, but we do choose how often we talk to them, how often we see them, and I wish I had more time to talk and spend with mine! I do know that I have a beautiful group of people that support me, believe in me, encourage me, challenge me, and make me a better person each and every day-everyone deserves that! I’m so grateful for all the amazing people in my life, I wouldn’t be who I am today without each of you. Can you say the same about the people in your life?

I’ve had people argue, or I guess I could say agree to disagree, with me on the fact that you choose your feelings and emotions.  I know we all have days where we just feel ‘blah’ and trust me, I have them too-especially being a woman =) but I also truly believe in the ability to take a deep breath, close your eyes, and open them with a new attitude.  One thing I love about my CFD community is the positivity, energy and pure happiness I see from everyone.  It’s almost as if everyone that walks in that yellow door has chosen to do so, but their attitude or feelings just automatically become positive because of the atmosphere and people they surround themselves with.  It’s so wonderful.  I’m so lucky to be a part of such a wonderful team and CF community.

I’ve never been so proud or excited for business cards before.  I know it seems silly, but having these and seeing it on paper is so rewarding and exciting! Super elite team we have =)

On that note, enjoy your day everyone!  Make a choice for it to be a good day.  Try to set your worries and stressors aside and be happy.  It’s one of the best feelings in the world. Plus the sun is finally out shining and it’s a lovely fall day-great day to blog!

… I can only think of one thing missing in this picture to make it the perfect morning…what does your perfect morning look like?

I love this post, Laura! And I totally agree, we do get to choose our emotions to a huge extent. Growing up, my mom always told me, “You make/are responsible for your own happiness” and it is so true. Bad things happen, big and small, that certainly take a toll on our emotions. We can either make a conscious decision to take steps toward being happy, or we can live passively reacting to life. So yeah… bad things that happen suck, but instead of feeling sorry for myself, I much prefer to choose happiness instead 🙂
