Barbell Withdrawal Syndrome: The Power of Olympic Lifting

-Trouble functioning at everyday life tasks

-Inability to focus on one’s feelings because of the need for some barbell lovin

-Dreaming about Cleans

-Inability to focus at all really, on anything.

-Not enjoying meals as much without it following a meaty barbell session

-Jealous of others moving their bodies around the barbell at the Box

-Lacking intellectual thoughts and conversations due to only one thing on the mind (ok, two)- Cleans and Snatches

-Feelings of dissatisfaction

-Becoming overly emotional about petty things because all you want to do is Snatch

-Buying/Online shopping for non-Olympic lifting shoes to try and fill a void, when all you want to do is wear Pendlays

This can happen to anyone going 3-5 days without contact with the barbell. Important to take note and be sure to get your meatiness in as often as possible so symptoms do not occur.  If you experience one or more of these symptoms seek barbell immediately.

I have snatching dreams, too. Barbell withdrawal is serious stuff.

I think I’m having barbell and pull up withdrawal. I find myself staring at the callouses on my hands getting sad. Good thing I’m back next week!
